EQ Bulletin May 11, 2010

Elders and Family,

Please schedule and keep in mind the following three things if possible:

  1. Sandy Pride Day of Service this Saturday at 8:00 AM at Falcon Park
    1. Friday night Primary children can decorate their bikes or wagons at 6:30 PM at the Chapel.
    2. We will start Saturday with a breakfast, parade, and also continue on doing service. They are encouraging that we walk because there will be TONS of cars at the park already.
    3. Elders we have been asked to work on clearing a trail. Here is the description:

                                                               i.      Shovel dirt off the trail and dig away from the path or it won't immediately run off.  Repair railroad tie retaining wall on the trail.  The city will dig out ahead, and volunteers will reset the ties.

1.      Here is what we’d need to bring:

a.       Shovels, round and flat, trowels, sledge hammers

  1. Ward Conference this Sunday
    1. Come prepared to hear messages from our Stake & Ward Leadership. It should be a great meeting.
  2. Ward Temple Night
    1. 8:15 PM Endowment Session must arrive by 7:45 PM at the Draper Temple

Reminders, Upcoming Events and Service Projects

-May 14th is a Day of Celebration- Decoration Activity for Primary children to get their bikes and or wagons all ready for the Parade the next day!

-May 15th is a Day of Celebration sponsored by our Stake. We will be commemorating and celebrating the railroad that went through our area with the granite rocks that built the Salt Lake Temple. It will be filled with activities, breakfast, a parade for the young kids (to dress up like pioneers and or railway men), and also we will be building humanitarian kits for those that stand in need. Our ward has a specific assignment to collect hand towels. We need 500 of them donated for the whole ward. Please if you wouldn’t mind that would be amazing!

- Stake Book of Mormon Challenge: In our Stake Priesthood Meeting we, as a priesthood body, were challenged to read The Book of Mormon by July 13th alongside the young men in the stake as they prepare for Camp Helaman. Please take note of this challenge! Also I understand that if we do it the Stake YW’s has said that we, even the men, can earn our ‘Virture’ in Personal Progress. (Oh my!)

-June4-5th—Ward Campout! The ward campout will be at Jordan Pines just up Big Cottonwood Canyon. It is REALLY close so for those of you that only want to come up for the dinner that night its perfect—and for those of us willing to brave the great outdoors you can camp! Come one, come all!

-June 5th & 6th—Missionary Fireside

-EQ Temple Nights We will continue to have them once monthly. Please note these dates. We will do as many ordinances as we can with the idea in mind to do family names and disperse the quorum doing ordnances throughout the temple—including baptisms, initiatory, endowments, and sealings. Please plan to attend with you and your children that can go. If you can let me know in advance if you and your family are going I will have reservations made for all of you and even have plenty of family file names that you can do while there. Please arrive by 6:30 PM at the Draper Temple as the sessions would start at 7:00 PM. Here are the dates:

            -April 29th 7:00 PM

-May 19th Ward Temple Night, 8:15 PM Endowment Session, must arrive by 7:45 PM.

-May 20th 7:00 PM CANCELED! (So we can go the night before to the Ward Temple Night

2010 EQ Family Focus: This year the Elders Quorum Presidency will be emphasizing Family Home Evening, Fathers Interviews, and Family Councils. We will be having some activities and visits that center around these with you and your family. I’d like to know if you and your family have the Church’s Family Home Evening Manual? Please let me know. I may just grab some for our quorum to give out. Here is a good site for you to review for FHE suggestions:
