-Which Witch Scavenger Hunt at Gardner Village (go to their website and print out the page or go to Naborhood Bakery while there)

-Engh Gardens on 7th East and about 8200 S has a free little hay maze with pumpkins and blow-up decorations and stuff with a pirate ship. Good for kids under 4 feet tall.

Here are some that cost but are recommended:

-Halloween on the Farm at Wheeler Farm $4 to pick your own pumpkin, $3 for a corn and hay maze, $1.50 for a tractor ride (as usual) or $7 for all activities. From 10-8 M-Th and 10-9 F-Sat. I called them because their website was lacking....

-This is the Place has Haunted Village for $15 (not recommended for under 12) all month, and Little Haunts on 10/24 and 10/31 for $6 ages 3-11 and $8 for 12 and up. Bring youngsters in costume for trick-or-treating, plus games, wagon rides, all that stuff. Looks fun. www.thisistheplace.org

-Hogle Zoo has a few things going on this month with admission. I know of some people in our ward who have access to a group pass from work and can get a big group in (they took 17 at once without a problem...) But we need to organize it and keep it a little smaller. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Weekly EQ Bulletin - August 18th

Elders and family,

Elders I would like to recommend a tradition for you and your family—an annual Fathers Blessing. I am recommending that you begin doing, annually, a Fathers Blessing prior to your children starting school. This can be a tender time to have a Fathers Interview with your child to get on the same page and then have a blessing that you give them not only comforts but also gives direction from the Lord. I would recommend working on this in the next two weeks as school is now beginning. Additionally, do not forget consulting with your wife prior to the blessing as her insights will be most helpful.

Tonight there is a Temple Sealing Session reserved as a reminder to those that have accepted the assignment—please see below for future months assignments and information. Sunday we have no Sacrament Meeting but are to attend the Temple Dedication! If you haven’t gotten your Dedication Recommend you’ll need to rush to the church tonight to meet with the Bishopric! Our good friends the Bulloch’s are moving on Saturday morning at 9:00 AM. Please come and help them move out—even thought we’d rather they not move!

Also Jennifer Jelte arrives HOME THIS FRIDAY! Denise & Eric have got to be bouncing off the ceiling!

Here is this week’s bulletin:

Sandy Hills Elders Quorum Goals Reminder:

1. Pray: 3 times daily individually and with your family

2. READ: Read The Book of Mormon daily

4. ATTEND: Attend your Sacrament Meeting, Sunday School, Elders Quorum, and other Ward activities

5. MINISTER: Minister in your calling as a husband, father, home teacher, or other callings you might have

You’ll be blessed!

-Elder Richard Jelte returns on Sept. 1st

We will have more announcements regarding this and how to get an interview. The dedication is open to all baptized members of the Church who have received a recommend. In preparation for the dedication it is recommended that you do a Family Night focusing on the temple and what it means. We will have no Sunday meetings (no sacrament meeting, etc.). Additionally it may be nice to review why we do The Hosanna Shout and have a hanky for your children.

-EQ Temple Night September 29th- Starting in September we’ll be having a temple night for the Elders Quorum membership and their families. Elders and family,

We have a service project at the Collets on July 15th (tomorrow), please let me know if you can attend. On July 16th we have a Pasta Plant assignment from 6-10 PM for 3 people to fill- game? We have Father and Sons on Friday and Saturday. Additionally, the missionaries are in need of rides from priesthood holders (18 and above) during the day/evening. If you could reply and let me know if you’d be willing and what times and days you might be able to work something into your schedule that would be helpful. Then if they need us they can call us.

Bobby Tello in Sunday’s lesson issued a challenge to all of us Elders that we do the following prior to our next trip to the temple:

  1. What is the next date I’ll be attending the temple?
  2. What am I going to do to prepare to go to the temple to better feel the Spirit of the Lord?

Starting in August or September we will start having a monthly night where Elders and family are encouraged to go to the temple. Let me know if you have a preference on time of day and day of week.
