Reminders: Saturday and Sunday

Elders and family,

 

Here are three reminders for Saturday and Sunday—

 

Saturday

 

-          Mia Johnson and Ariel Elegante are being baptized at 10 AM at the Stake Center

-          Trunk or Treat starts at 5:30 PM (not 5:00 PM). There will be chili and some fix’in’s to eat. Make sure if you’d like to contribute you bring some Chili or get into contact with Julie Newman 801-256-9153

 

Sunday

 

-          Stake Priesthood Meeting is Sunday at 7:30 AM at the Stake Center. This is for ALL Priesthood holders. See ya bright and early!

EQ Bulletin October 20, 2009

Elders and family,

 

I trust you all enjoyed our excellent Regional Stake Conference that we had. Elder Costa (not Hales) requested that we review this talk in a family night from President Ezra Taft Benson. Make sure you do it—you’ll obviously be blessed ;) Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet

        

Thursday night we have EQ Temple Night at the Draper Temple. We’ll be arriving around 6:30 to go to do an Endowment Session or to do Sealings. Please let me know if you can attend.

 

Ward Calendar Events- if you have a ward event that you’d like to get on the ward calendar please send it to me. Holly Horton and I will be coordinating our ward calendar. You will be able to view them on the Sandy Hills Ward Website on lds.org

Sandy Hills Elders Quorum Goals Reminder:

1.      Pray: 3 times daily individually and with your family

2.      READ: Read The Book of Mormon daily

3.      MEDITATE: Meditate on those things that you read in The Book of Mormon and prayed about. Put something from your reading into practice daily.

4.      ATTEND: Attend your Sacrament Meeting, Sunday School, Elders Quorum, and other Ward activities

5.      MINISTER: Minister in your calling as a husband, father, home teacher, or other callings you might have

 

You’ll be blessed! I can promise that—for sure!

-Holly Horton and her dog, Rockz, are on the road to winning the National Championships! Go HOLLY! Click here to see her winnings!

 

Upcoming Events

 

 -EQ Temple Night October 22ndWe’ll be making assignments to do certain ordinances (Sealings, Initiatory, Endowments, Baptisms) rotating through the quorum membership. The goal will also to be to work in doing Family History work of our own and taking those names as we progress with this. This will be a fun time every month for us to get out to the temple together—and a good excuse to go, right. Currently I have a Sealing sessions reserved through November. Future dates will be—November 17th.

-         October 22nd and November 17th for 6 (walk in status—endowed members must have family names)

-Pinewood Derby-at the Stake Center or Chapel (anyone know?)

-Scouting Conference, October 27th

-Temple Cleaning Assignment, November 3rd at 10 PM- Midnight. 12 people needed to clean the Draper Temple. Please let me know if you’d like to volunteer. (We’ll need 25 people from our ward alone. We’ve got an assignment for 12.)

-RS Christmas Party, December 3rd

-Ward Christmas Party, December 19th

Fun and Free Around the City

 

-Which Witch Scavenger Hunt at Gardner Village (go to their website and print out the page or go to Naborhood Bakery while there)

runs through 10/31 (and get a free sample of fudge at Sweet Afton's anytime) They have all kinds of Halloween stuff going on.

 

-Engh Gardens on 7th East and about 8200 S has a free little hay maze with pumpkins and blow-up decorations and stuff with a pirate ship. Good for kids under 4 feet tall.

 

Here are some that cost but are recommended:

 

-Halloween on the Farm at Wheeler Farm $4 to pick your own pumpkin, $3 for a corn and hay maze, $1.50 for a tractor ride (as usual) or $7 for all activities. From 10-8 M-Th and 10-9 F-Sat. I called them because their website was lacking....

 

-This is the Place has Haunted Village for $15 (not recommended for under 12) all month, and Little Haunts on 10/24 and 10/31 for $6 ages 3-11 and $8 for 12 and up. Bring youngsters in costume for trick-or-treating, plus games, wagon rides, all that stuff. Looks fun. www.thisistheplace.org

 

-Hogle Zoo has a few things going on this month with admission. I know of some people in our ward who have access to a group pass from work and can get a big group in (they took 17 at once without a problem...) But we need to organize it and keep it a little smaller. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet

EQ Bulletin October 13, 2009

Elders and family,

 

Reminder: Stake Conference is on Sunday at 10 AM at the Stake Center. Come one, come all! Please make sure to invite your neighbors.

        

We’ve got some fun-ness coming round the corner with EQ Temple Night, RS Family History Workshop, the Trunk or Treat and Spook Alley, announcing a soon to be National Dog Champion Holly and her dog Roxy, the last week of volleyball, and some additions on Fun and Free Round the City. Please enjoy below! I’ve added two sections as well—Ward Members Blogs and Missionary Addresses. Hopefully they’ll be good additions to the bulletin.

 

Also Brother Karl Williams’s brother, Kent Williams, passed away last week. The funeral is tomorrow at the ward house starting at Noon. The Elders have the assignment for the set up and take down of the chairs. We’ll be setting up at 7 AM. Take down we’ll discuss…Likely after 5 PM…. Here is a link to the obituary:

Thanks to all of those that were able to come to EQ Temple Night. What a fun time. We had people for sealings and baptisms. Please save Thursday, October 22nd for our next Temple Night! We’d love to have you come. We are getting a fair amount of family names and we need help!

-Provident Living: Gardening Workshop- Come Thursday October 8th at 6 PM to a workshop on gardening and pruning. It will be fairly simple, but hopefully will help you conjure up some thoughts on what you can do now (quickly) to prepare your gardens for spring or start planning your gardens.
