EQ Bulletin January 26th, 2010

Elders and Family,

 

I’m guessing you’ve already heard but we’ve got another temple coming in UT. Just think that our families can attend 2 more dedications and open houses in the coming couple of years—Brigham City and also Payson as well. Very cool!

 

We have several items going on this week. I am going to try and get these updates our on Sunday afternoons to recap what we’ve heard at Church and then also try to include some FHE ideas so you and your family might use them on Monday nights. Sound good?

 

Here are some reminders:

  

-Reminder: Baptisms January 29^th at 5 PM. If you signed up please plan to arrive at 5 and enjoy!  

 

-The EQ has snow removal and the set up of chairs on Sunday. Please try and help out if you can. Chair set up is at 8:00 AM and Snow Removal is as early as 7:30 AM.

 

-Stake Conference is coming!!! February 6-7^th. The night of the 6^th we will have a Adult Meeting at the Stake Center. Sunday at 7:00 AM it is Stake Priesthood Leadership Meeting then Stake Conference begins at 10:00 AM. Please plan to attend.

 

-The YW their second basketball game on February 2^nd at 7:15 PM. They have basketball practice from 4:00 to 5:00 PM every Monday through March. Their schedule will come likely next week as an attachment. See their attached schedule.

 

-The Ward Calendar (attached) has several updates to it I am certain that you and your family will find helpful such as- YM & YW Activities, EQ Assignments, Den Meetings, Activity Days, etc. Also this calendar is available at our Sandy Hills Ward Website on LDS.org and will be updated monthly if not sooner. If you have an activity date please let me know and I’ll get it up on the calendar.

Sandy Hills Elders Quorum Goals Reminder:

1.      Pray: 3 times daily individually and with your family

2.      READ: Read The Book of Mormon daily

3.      MEDITATE: Meditate on those things that you read in The Book of Mormon and prayed about. Put something from your reading into practice daily.

4.      ATTEND: Attend your Sacrament Meeting, Sunday School, Elders Quorum, and other Ward activities

5.      MINISTER: Minister in your calling as a husband, father, home teacher, or other callings you might have

 

You’ll be blessed! I can promise that—for sure!

Upcoming Events

 

-EQ Temple Nights We will continue to have them once monthly. Please note these dates. We will do as many ordiances as we can with the idea in mind to do family names and disperse the quorum doing ordnances throughout the temple—including baptisms, initiatory, endowments, and sealings. Please plan to attend with you and your children that can go. If you can let me know in advance if you and your family are going I will have reservations made for all of you and even have plenty of family file names that you can do while there. Please arrive by 6:30 PM at the Draper Temple as the sessions would start at 7:00 PM. Here are the dates:

            -March 18^th 7:00 PM

            -April 29^th 7:00 PM

-May 19^th Ward Temple Night, 8:20 PM Endowment Session, must arrive by 7:45 PM. (Tentative)

EQ Bulletin January 19th

Elders and Family,

 

I want to remind you of doing your Home Teaching this month. I know your home teaching families would appreciate it. Please note the helpful home teaching documents attached. Also there are few other helpful things attached—calendar, basketball schedules, etc.

  

-Baptisms January 29^th at 5 PM. We are looking for 5 people to fill an assignment. Please let me know if you and your family would be interested in filling this assignment. Thanks!

EQ Bulletin Janauary 12th, 2010

Elders and Family,

 

I hope all is treating you and your family well. As attachments you’ll not the Ward Calendar, some Home Teaching helps (a family challenge and a kids project—good stuff), the REVISED 2010 Men’s Basketball Schedule, and the Deacons Basketball Schedule.  

 

-Men’s Basketball—tonight at 9:00 PM be there or be square! (I’m square—meaning not coordinated! Sorry!)

 

-The YW have first basketball game on January 26^th at 6:30 PM. They have basketball practice from 4:00 to 5:00 PM every Monday through March. Their schedule will come likely next week as an attachment.

Home Teaching Helps - January

Elders and family,

 

I just was getting out this months article for Home Teaching tonight and found this additional stuff for helps with the lesson. I put them in a document and will try and do something like this for February. Hopefully you’ll review it and use it in your teaching. There is a challenge for each member of the family and then also an activity sheet for kids. I think that it is great! Read up on President Uchtdorf’s article Hold on a Little Longer and you’ll enjoy the helps. I know they put in the helps monthly, but if you get them online you’ll be able to get some cooler ones I guess.

Happy New Year! I hope all is going well for you and  yours. Enclosed below is our update. Please take note of the attached calendar for June.  Enclosed below is our update

 

-Provident Living Workshop: Thursday night at the Ward House starting at 7:00 PM. Tips on financial planning for the family and even the little ones. Come one, come all.

 

-Remember this week the EQ is in charge of removing snow from the walks at the Church. Please if you can please volunteer by calling Doug Oviatt to help clear the walks. The Ward does have a great snow blower that works really well. Otherwise we have a shovels and salt at the Ward House. Call Doug at 801-440-9854 to help or watch for his number! J
